I've been displaying images on a variety of web sites for a while now, and quickly came to realise that a page that was initially simple to maintain soon became time-consuming and unmanageable as my image collection grew. I then trialled a couple of widely used software packages which I hoped would ease the problem.

The problem was that although the software offered great flexibility it tended to need the user to be something of a database administrator, and for I wanted at least it was overkill. So, that's how "EspressoPix" came about. In sheer frustration I trashed the other software and wrote my own - the result is EspressoPix.

I designed EspressoPix to be as simple as possible from the start. It uses a database but all this holds is the content for the main page, and the directory information to tell the software where the images are located. If you want to add more images, just upload them. They'll appear. One huge bugbear I had with previous software was that it tried to create thumbnail images from the full-sized versions. Sounds fine in practice, but the libraries used for this have to be a specific version or the results are truly horrible, as some of you no doubt saw.

With EspressoPix you provide your own thumbnails. It's very simple and you should know how to do this if you intend to seriously post images on the web. I'd recommend Irfanview for Windows as it's free, easy to use and extremely versatile.

The images in the galleries usually represent a small part of a large collection. I've selected the images on display to give you some idea of the range of my portfolio and there are a lot more that are not displayed. If you want to see more then please get in touch and we can arrange something. I'll consider assignments on an individual basis so if you are looking for something in particular please don't hesitate to ask. As you can tell, I don't have any problems with travelling either.

If you want to buy a larger, professionally mounted copy of any of the images (without the copyright text) then please let me know.

I hope you enjoy EspressoPix. If you want a copy for yourself please let me know and I'll sort one out for you. It's not quite at the stage where it's ready to go as a single package but it will be soon. Enjoy!
